BBIA demands policy to protect local MSME sector | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 5: Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) has demanded a policy to protect the interests of local MSME sector of Jammu and Kashmir. According to press release, a meeting of BBIA was held under the President Ship of Lalit Mahajan in presence of Tarun Singla Sr. Vice President, Ajay Langer Vice President, Viraaj Malhotra General Secretary, Rajesh Jain Secretary, Vivek Singhal Treasurer & other members. They discussed the implementation of Ancillarisation Policy by the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir for providing due share in the purchase of Raw Materials & Packaging Materials from the Local MSME Sector by the Medium & Large Scale Units working as well as under implementation in our State on the initiative of our Hon’ble Lt. Governor G.C. Murmu. During the course of discussions, Members present in the meeting, hailed the efforts of the Hon’ble Lt. Governor G.C. Murmu to attract New Investment in our State in Industrial Sector, resulting massive Industrial Investment in process from the Domestic as well as from Foreign Investors in near future and we are hopeful that the Employment Graph of Local Youths in the Industrial Sector may be reached at highest level. It is pertinent to mention here that after the removal of Toll Tax w.e.f 01-01-2020, uncertainty prevailed in the mind of Local MSME Units in respect of purchase of Raw Materials/Packaging Materials by Medium & Large Scale Units established in the State from Local SSI Units as it has been brought to our notice that number of Units are in the process for the purchase of Raw Materials and Packaging Materials from outside the State which will be a setback to the Local Units being run mostly by the Sons of the Soil. It is worthwhile to mention here that the Ancillarisation process was started in our Country simultaneously with the Govt. setting up Enterprises almost in all the core sectors. The large Industries and other Public Sector undertaking (PSUSs) started sub-contracting the standard and low technology items to the Local Small-Scale Industries which developed a sound base of Ancillarisation, helped Proliferations and Development of MSME Sector and we strongly support the concept of Ancillarisation in Private Sector also which will prove a milestone in ushering in an era of sub-contracting amongst the Industries located in our State which will increase the avenues of the Employment also. Since the Industrial Policy 2020 is on the final Stage, it is a need of hours for the adoption of Ancillarisation Policy by the Industries Department to protect the Interest of the MSME Sector of Packaging and other related Industries engaged in the manufacturing of Industrial Products required by the Medium & Large Scale Industrial Units of our State. They requested LG for adoption of Ancillarisation Policy for the development of MSME Sector in our State and while granting the State/Central Fiscal Incentives to Medium & Large Scale Units, It should be mandatory for them to procure 75% of their requirement of Raw Material & Packaging Material from Local SSI Units.
