Early Times Report

JAMMU, Feb 5: Notwithstanding the Lt. Governor's directive to administrative secretaries to hold visit districts and have feedback on various issues, there is no public and administration contact at present with the result people have no end to their woes. According to sources problems of people are increasing and there is no body to listen their woes. The bureaucrats who are supposed to look into genuine problems of people behave in extra ordinary manner. Sources said people are in great desperation as the authorities lack common sense to address their genuine problems. In the absence of democratically elected government, the people don't know whom to contact for redressal of their grievances.
The genuine files for settlement of the problems are lying on tables with officers raising unnecessary queries.
There is no one to listen to the people's woes at present said Ramandeep of Hiranagar. "The files remain pending on tables of officers and they aren't bothered to clear them'', he added.
He said in case of a normal transfer a person has to move from one table to other for months together and later the same is rejected by raising some queries.
Sources said People approaching Civil Secretariat for construction of link and approach roads, installation of transformer, laying of water pipes, construction of lanes drains, sanction of school buildings and redressal of other problems are perturbed as there is no one to listen their issues and settle them by considering it their duty.
"Whom can we approach as no body considers it his binding duty to redress the public problems''. said Ram Kumar of MarhGajansoo. He said farmers compensation cases are pending as no one bothers to settle them as bureaucrats are answerable to none.
The lack of administration -people contract has distanced the masses from the Government. And the back to village programmes and public outreach programme has failed to yield result.
Sources said the Ministers came delivered lecturers and issued statements during public outreach programme but later there was no action on ground. Same is case with Back to Village programme as no action was visible on ground on the directives given by officers during B2V recently with the result the problems are piling up day by day.
