DLSA, JMC sensitizes fruit and vegetable vendors to maintain cleanliness

JAMMU, Feb 5: On the instructions of Executive Chairman, J&K State Legal Services Authority, Justice Rajesh Bindal, District Legal Services Authority, Jammu and Jammu Municipal Corporation jointly launched a special drive from Janipur, Muthi, Roop Nagar and Bantalab to sensitize fruit and vegetable vendors to maintain cleanliness and keep all the vegetable/fruit markets hygienic.
The campaign started with a objective to develop a organized manner for disposal of vegetable and fruits waste in Jammu City.
Nodal Officer, SWM, JMC Dr. Zafar lqbal asked fruit and vegetable vendors to maintain two dustbins, green one for wet garbage and blue for dry waste and asked to demarcate their dustbins with chunna/lime powder in order to keep mosquitoes, insects and flies away from the waste material.
Officials of DLSA and JMC urged them to display a board on vegetable stalls with a message for the vegetable buyers to bring their own cloth or jute bag for carrying vegetables and fruits.
The Secretary DLSA Jammu, Naushad Ahmed Khan, Advocate Nitin Bakshi, President Young Lawyers Association, Probono, Advocate Pratima Singh, Advocate Veena Julmaria, Advocate Manjeet Partap Singh and Advocate Kamal Magotra, all Retainer Lawyers of DLSA Jammu appealed the general public to make their contributions in Solid Waste Management and Swacch Bharat Campaign. They also appealed to respect our Safai Karamacharies who play a significant role in keeping our surroundings clean.
