Fencers get new hall at newly constructed Indoor Complex

Jammu, Feb 6: Fencers were in an upbeat mood as they were finally allotted a new hall at the newly constructed Multipurpose Indoor Complex at Maulana Azad Stadium here.
The new fencing hall was thrown open on Wednesday amid the presence of Divisional Sports Officer, Ravi Singh and Manager Indoor Hall, Satish Gupta.
The fencers expressed thanks to the Secretary State Sports Council, Dr Naseem Choudhary for his efforts in getting their long pending demand fulfilled.
Fencing Coach Rachna Jamwal, Instructor Shotu Lal Sharma was also present on the occasion along with coaches from other disciplines and fencers of different age groups.
"Earlier we used to work in open on stairs at old outdoor stadium and exclusive for fencing was one of our major demands," said the fencers adding that they are thankful to the Secretary State Sports Council, Dr Naseem Choudhary, who ultimately get the work completed in stipulated time frame and handed over the Indoor Complex not only to fencers but also to players/coaches of other disciplines including Wushu, Gymnastics, Weight Lifting, Karate.
The fencers however, further expressed and hoped that they can now attend regular training sessions in all weather infrastructure and can excel at various competitions after the facility provided to them.
They also expressed gratitude to Lieutenant Governor Girish Chandra Murmu, Commissioner Secretary, Advisor to Governor Farooq Khan, who also holds the portfolio of Youth Services and Sports, Commissioner Secretary, Youth Services and Sports, Sarmad Hafeez for their vision in uplifting sports facilities and infrastructure in the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory.
