RCFC, North II organises Stake holders Meet-cum-Workshop

Jammu, Feb 6: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Jammu organized one day Stakeholders Meet-cum-Workshop on Medicinal Plants in collaboration with Regional-cum-Facilitation Centre, North II, SKUAST-Kashmir sponsored by National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB), Ministry of AYUSH, Govt. of India.
Dr. J.L.N. Sastry, CEO, NMPB inaugurated the workshop in the presence of Dr. K.S. Risam, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu, Rabi Kumar, IFS, CEO State Medicinal Plant Board (SMPB), J&K, Dr. Mohan Singh, Director, Indian System of Medicine (ISM), Dr. N. Padma Kumar, Advisor, NMPB, Ministry of AYUSH, Dr. Sheikh Bilal Ahmed, Regional Director, RCFC North II and other statutory officers of the University.
In his inaugural address, Dr. Sastry discussed the on-going governmental schemes for farmers related to cultivation of medicinal plants.
He also deliberated upon the activities to be covered under new forthcoming schemes by National Medicinal Plant Board for bringing higher returns to farmers from cultivation of medicinal plants. He suggested farmers to identify species and varieties, keeping in view the agro-ecological situation and market demand into consideration.
Dr. K.S. Risam Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu in his address deliberated upon the issues related to cultivation of medicinal plants in Jammu region.
He discussed the opportunity for farmers to enhance their income through cultivation of medicinal plants.
