DC Jammu visits RS Pura, inspects progress on disbursement of crop loss compensation
Directs concerned to speed up the process of disbursement

JAMMU, FEBRUARY 07: Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Sushma Chauhan today visited R S Pura, Sub Division of district Jammu and inspected the progress on disbursement of compensation among farmers for crop loss.
During the tour, she visited R S Pura SDM office and inspected the progress of disbursement; SDM briefed the DC about details of total amount disbursed among the farmers so far in their area jurisdiction.
Meanwhile, DC also visited SDM South Office and inspected the progress on disbursement of compensation, SDM informed the DC about the progress achieved so far.
It is pertinent to mention here that, the paddy crop has been damaged by unseasonal heavy rainfall and windstorms/hailstorms. A total of crop over 5 lakh Kanal land has been damaged in district Jammu. Four tehsils of district jammu were mostly affected including R S Pura, Suchetgarh, Bishnah and Marh.
It was informed that field functionaries of Revenue and Agriculture Department have collected data of crop loss and the compensation amount would be credited directly into the accounts of beneficiaries through Direct Beneficiary Transfer (DBT). It was further informed that total number of 52,691 beneficiaries will received compensation for their crops and total amount of more than Rs. 34 crore will be disbursed directly to the accounts of the beneficiaries.
The DC directed the concerned officers to speed up the process of disbursement and ensure that every beneficiary should get compensation for their crop loss. She also directed the J&K Bank officials to strengthen the staff and complete the process of disbursement within three days.
