Chamb refugees demand land for farming | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 7: The refugees of 1971 from Chamb, presently residing in Khour camp, have demanded allotment of lands to them as compensation. The demand was raised at a meeting chaired by, president of the association, Ram Lal Sharma (Retd Headmaster). He also demanded removing of anomalies in the list of proposed beneficiaries. Sharma said that out of total 212 families, only 38 have been enlisted. He also demanded that those families who do not have even an inch of land allotted should be immediately compensated either with allotment of land for tilling or be given adequate amount of money in lieu of that. Sharma said that providing of basic amenities as well as land for farming was promised by various governments in the past but was never fulfilled. Among others, Ramesh Lal, Badrinath, Isher Das and Ajay Sharma were also present in the meeting.
