Early Times Report

MENDHAR, Feb 7 : Due to wrong parking of vehicles by people and callous attitude of the authorities, traffic jams are swelling in this border town putting local residents in trouble, especially during office hours.
In Mendhar town from main chowk to Bus Stand, which is one of the busiest area of the town, hours long traffic jam at regular intervals has become a routine and wrong parking of vehicles on roadside is the major reason for it.
“Police don’t take any action against the defaulters. They should seize the vehicles which lead to traffic snarls and jams,” said a local resident Mohammad Farooq Ahmed.
He said the Police is acting as mute spectator and it has added to the woes of common people here.
Another local, Ashfaq hussain stated that only two to three Police officials can be seen roaming in ever busy main chowk who mostly remain engaged with Tata Sumo operators while the deployment of cops near Bus Stand is also not up to mark leading to major traffic chaos.
One Iqbal khan while castigating traffic police stated that hardly any traffic policeman is seen in Bus Stand area for regulation of traffic and even the senior officers of Traffic Police can be seen laying naka mostly at Sangla Chowk in the town. He stated that earlier main bazaar was a jam free road but now it’s also on same level of jamming which even affects the traffic movement on Mendhar-Surankote road.
