Div Com holds J&K Kisan Council meet

JAMMU, Feb 8: Divisional Commissioner, Sanjeev Verma today chaired a meeting of J&K Kisan Council and listened the proble being faced by farmer community.
The meeting was attended by Chairman J&K Kisan Council, senior officers of Agriculture, Horticulture, Floriculture, Sheep and Animal Husbandry and other concerned officers besides farmers from various districts of the Jammu Division.
During the meeting threadbare discussions were held regarding improvement in agriculture and allied sector productions.
The farmers put forth their proble regarding lack of facilities of collection centres, irrigation proble and other issues being faced by them.
After listening to grievances of farmers the Div Com passed on the spot directions to the concerned officers for opening up of collection and procurement centres (Mandis) at different locations of the districts. He also asked the concerned to ensure the functioning of existing centres so that farmers could sell their produce in their respective places.
Farmers from hilly areas of the division put forth their demand regarding requirement of check da and other facilities for improving their agriculture produce.
The Div Com asked the concerned to conduct visits in hilly areas and work for making check da in the areas.
Div Com also asked Agriculture, Horticulture and Floriculture departments to organize awareness camps especially in remote areas of the division so that farmers could avail the benefits from various government schemes.
