Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 6: Heavy rains lashed the plains of Jammu since Friday morning dipping the temperature to 11 degrees Celsius.
The weather is likely to improve by Wednesday, an official from the Met office said here.
Light to moderate rain with thunderstorm and snowfall over higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir and Kargil district occurred at many places during last 24 hours and is still continuing, he said.
“The same is likely to continue for another day or two,” the weatherman said, adding that significant improvement in weather is likely from Wednesday afternoon.
In view of this, the public is advised to take precautions, especially of landslides and avalanche prone areas, he added.
While the maximum temperature in Jammu dipped by five to six degrees and recorded 18 degrees, the minimum temperature was 11.5 degrees.
In Katra, the maximum temperature was 16.2 degrees Celsius and the minimum was 10 degree Celsius.
Jammu-Srinagar national highway was also shut due to heavy rains that triggered landslides at many places.
