EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Mar 6: Expressing utter disappointment over lack of civic amenities in Vikram Nagar locality of Karan Bagh area near Jammu Airport, the Editor-in-chief Early Times, Munish Gupta, on Friday said that the residents are facing continues neglect of authorities despite putting up in the colony for nearly three decades.
Munish, who would be contesting the next Assembly elections from Gandhi Nagar assembly constituency said, “It’s ironical that people of this area are still yearning for basic facilities. Their pleas to provide them with civic amenities have been turned a deaf ear by administration as well as the public representatives.”
Munish said, “People’s sufferings should be taken care of by the government. General public’s needs should be given top most priority. A holistic approach needs to be adopted to provide basic facilities to the people as majority of areas in Jammu city are grappling with numerous civic problems.”
Meanwhile, residents of Vikram Nagar, while talking to Early Times said that they are facing a plethora of civic issues including poor sanitation, erratic sewerage system and dilapidated lanes.
“Vikram Nagar has always been neglected by public representatives as well as the government agencies. Whosoever got elected from Gandhi Nagar Assembly constituency had done nothing concrete on ground except for making tall promises and never fulfilling them while the authorities also don’t pay any attention towards our sufferings,” said a few residents.
The people said that the lanes and by-lanes are in shambles as tiles have never been fixed while there is hardly any drainage system in the area due to which the water gets logged in front of houses. However, neither the elected legislators nor the administration ever bothered to find a way out to resolve these grave problems.
