JU organizes workshop on livelihood diversification

JAMMU, Mar 6: University of Jammu today organised a workshop on financial inclusion & livelihood enhancement and diversification in the panchayat Jaswan of Tehsil-Marh. The programme was conceptualized, planned and implemented by Dr. Sandeep Singh, Assistant professor of Department of Lifelong Learning University of Jammu. In the inaugural of the workshop, the very concept of livelihood diversification and enhancement was explained by the organizer of the workshop. The workshop was sponsored under RUSA-2.0 (a special grant given to the University of Jammu by the Ministry of HRD, GOI). In the workshop, the issue of financial inclusion was thoroughly discussed by Astt. Prof. Karan Maini, who explained to the participants about opportunities available in the immediate urban area like Jammu where huge market for the local products is something to be explored and appropriated and the dependence on neighboring states like Punjab/ Haryana etc. can be minimized. He further stressed on various strategies and innovative means of connecting the village with the market and consequent opportunities available to the farmers. The concerns of various schemes of GOI and the various loan available and offered by various departments of the government of India and various banks was delivered by Suresh Gupta, Ashwani Sharma and Shalley Sharma, representing The J&K Bank. They also settled 23 cases of PMJJY and PMSBY of the Villagers in the same workshop.
