Pace of development has accelerated in J&K: Singh

New Delhi, Mar 18: The Government has accelerated the pace of development in Jammu and Kashmir and unemployment will end there soon, Union Minister Jitendra Singh told the Lok Sabha on Wednesday.
Dr Singh was taking part in the debate on Supplementary Demands for Grants for 2019-20; Supplementary Demands for Grants for 2019-20 from April 1, 2019 to October 30, 2019 for Jammu and Kashmir; Demands for Grants for 2020-21 for Jammu and Kashmir from October 31 to March 31, 2020; and Demands for Grants for Jammu and Kashmir and for Ladakh for 2020-21.
All the demands for grants were clubbed by the Chair under the rules, Speaker Om Birla said. Dr Singh said that 50,000 new jobs have been created in Jammu and Kashmir within eight months, adding that a loan of Rs 1-2 lakh was being given to the start-ups, without guarantee.
The Minister said infiltration has come down by 43 per cent in the recently-created Union Territory, adding that the situation in Jammu and Kashmir has changed, after the abrogation of Article 370.
Citing that economic development is at fast pace in J&K, the Minister said GST collection and excise collections have increased. The Minister further informed that 90 lakh metric tonnes of apples were bought from apple growers and money was given to them through DBT.
