Give up insensitive approach, become people friendly: Munish to officials | We are being denied basic amenities, all promises proved a hoax, say Digiana residents | | RAJESH TANDON EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Mar 18: Editor in Chief, Early Times, Munish Gupta, on Wednesday said that it is very unfortunate in the 21st century the residents of Jammu city don’t have roads, clean water and other basic amenities. Munish, who would be contesting the forthcoming assembly elections as an independent candidate from Gandhi Nagar constituency, said, “Residents of Digiana are craving for basic facilities and amenities but no one is paying any attention towards their plight.” He said, “Authorities cannot just act as mute spectators and allow people to suffer.” The Editor Early Times said, “Former legislators forgetting the people of Digiana after winning the elections has disappointed the people and they don’t want to trust the politicians anymore.” Munish said that it’s high time for the people at the helm to “open their eyes” and come for the rescue of the masses, who have been left at God’s mercy. “The insensitive approach of the officials is not going well with the people. The officials need to become people friendly and stop acting as mute spectators,” Munish added. Meanwhile, residents of Digiana while talking to Early Times said that tall claims of erstwhile J&K government and the local bodies, which were elected in 2018, have proved to be a hoax. They said that they were being denied basic civic facilities. “It is not easy to walk here after minor rain, wrong side slope of water is a major cause of water logging if heavy rain takes place. During rainy season filthy water enters into our homes,” residents said. They said that water supply lines in the area have been laid along the drains, and due to water-logging and damaged pipelines they are forced to drink filthy and contaminated water. “We have informed the concerned the department about the issue on many occasions but our pleas have been ignored,” they added. Residents said that apart from drains, they are suffering due to unmanaged electric wires in the area. “Many electric wires are hanging without proper poles,” they said. “Administration and the leaders whom we voted for in the past remained indifferent towards resolving our issues. There was a container here to dump the garbage, but due to increasing traffic pressure, the same was removed, turning the entire locality into a garbage dumping site,” they added. |
