One arrested in Kishtwar for spreading rumours on death due to COVID-19

Police have arrested one person for spreading rumours on social media regarding death of a man due to coronavirus in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir.
"False news was circulated on social media regarding the death of a man due to Corona Virus, who hailed from Kishtwar," Rajinder Singh Tara, Deputy Commissioner, Kishtwar here told UNI on Thursday.
The officer said, "the deceased identified as Babloo Ram of Barmar, was missing for the past so many days and he died in Jammu due to some ailment."
Report of his death due to coronavirus is completely baseless, said the Deputy Commissioner and added, "the rumour mongers have been identified and one person have also been taken into custody."
Pertinent to mention here that so far, there are only three positive cases of coronavirus confirmed in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Principal Secretary Rohit Kansal, who is also the Government spokesman on Thursday said that 2802 persons have been enlisted for observation among which 2128 have been kept in home quarantine, 28 in hospital quarantine while as 346 are under home surveillance.
He added that 300 persons have completed their 28 day surveillance period and said that 145 samples of suspected cases have been sent for testing so far out of which 118 have been reported negative, 03 are positive while as report of 24 is still awaited.
Urging people not to pay heed to rumors, Mr Kansal said that the government advises people not to panic and to rely on the information released by the government in this regard.
Mr Kansal on Thursday on micro-blogging site wrote, "Friends stay calm. Do not circulate or believe rumours. There is only one positive case in Kashmir so far.
