Restrictions in Jammu, people embracing social distancing

Jammu, Mar 23: Soon after the ‘Janta Curfew’ ended, the Jammu administration got into action and imposed restrictions to ensure that the people maintain social distancing while making purchases at the shops during the lockdown.
Several shops have also marked boundaries forcing people to maintain distance from each other and also the trader.
People could be seen standing at a distance of about 2 to 3 meters from each other outside a dairy to purchase milk.
The government announced a lockdown in Jammu and Kashmir from Sunday evening to March 31 and declared 16 essential services and commodities.
The 16 items that have been declared essential include groceries, fresh fruits and vegetables, petrol and diesel, milk and dairy, animal feed, medicines.
Banks and ATMs, LPG, health services, manufacturers of health and medical equipment, telecom operators, newspapers , Post office, loading and unloading of wheat and rice, transportation of essential commodities, provision of electricity, water supply, municipal and sanitation services come essential services.
Due to the outbreak of Coronavirus, demand for milk has decreased by 90 percent in Jammu, said Sat Pal Abrol, a dairy owner in Jammu.
He said that dairy owners are selling milk, curd and cheese so that the needs of common people can be fulfilled.
“The demand for milk has also decreased. People are using milk powder at home,” he said.
He also claimed that in Jammu these days, milk is used only for making curd and cheese and the remaining milk is not being sold completely.
