Enquiry ordered after GMC Anantnag, Health Deptt officials violate protocol

ANANTNAG, Mar 27: Taking cognizance of Early Times’ report, the administration in South Kashmir’s Anantnag has ordered an enquiry after Government Medical College Anantnag and Health Department authorities jointly violated the laid down protocol while dealing with a suspect.
“The suspect from Maraham Bijbehara who was in contact with the deceased COVID patient has been put in a quarantine facility. Already completed 13 days without developing any symptoms, Lets us rest this case. Enquiry into the issue of any dereliction is underway,” ACR Anantnag, Syed Yasir tweeted.
Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Bashir Ahmad Dar also assured that the ‘necessary action’ will be taken.
Important to recall, after hectic efforts the surveillance team had traced a person who had come in contact with deceased COVID-19 positive patient during a religious practice and was brought to Sub-District Hospital Bijbehara at around 4:00pm and from where he was shifted to Government Medical College Anantnag for testing however the at GMC Anantnag the team was conveyed that the flue clinic established for taking samples of suspected cases has been closed.
They said that the surveillance team along with the suspect returned back to Bijbehara and later on the directions of Chief Medical Officer Anantnag was shifted to Primary Health Center Veeri where he accordingly few staff members refused to stay.
However, sources revealed to Early Times that the suspect was allowed by the Health Department officials to return home and wasn’t sent to any quarantine center in established Anantnag.
Chief Medical Officer Anantnag, Mukhtar Ahmad had also admitted that the suspect stayed at home last night. “We had sent him to Primary Health Center Veeri but he didn’t stay there,” he said.
Medical Superintendent Government Medical College Anantnag, Dr Majid Mehrab, contradicted Chief Medical Officer Anantnag’s claims and said that the said didn’t report at GMC Anantnag.
