Make SDH Jagti fully functional, provide adequate facilities: Locals | | | S K KAW EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Apr 1: At present times when the COVID-19 infected countries across the globe including India were fighting a decisive battle against the deadly virus, a proper health care mechanism in general required to be put in place in every nook and corner of J&K while it was need of the hour for newly upgraded Sub Divisional Hospital Jagti. Locals of Jagti demanded that there should be provision of adequate facilities for newly upgraded Sub Divisional Hospital Jagti as it lacks the much needed infrastructure to deal with the emerging situation in the wake of coronavirus outbreak. On the contrary, the health institution at Jagti is almost non-functional for quite some time due to lack of basic amenities, alleged the locals here today. BJP Kashmir Displaced District President TN Bhat and General Secretary Vinod Kumar Pandita while interacting with several visiting patients to the hospital here today came to know that the hospital is ill-equipped for even providing basic health facilities not to talk of those equipments which are urgently neeed to deal with the coronavirus pandemic. After seeing the condition of the hospital, the duo urged the administration of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir to make immediate provisions for for proper medical screening, availability of adequate medicines/staff and other allied facilities at Government Hospital Jagti as it has become defunct due to the non-availability of the essential equipment and medicines. They said migrant families of Jagti and people living in adjoining areas fac e lot of hardships and discomfort on this count as they have to run to Jammu in this crucial time to avail medical facilities. They further urged Commissioner/Secretary Health and Medical Education Department, J&K Government to make this hospital functional in full swing with all the medical facilities especially medical screening to cater to the needs of migrants and people living nearby areas keeping in view the present situation that has emerged in the wake of COVID-19 outbreak. They also appealed for making availaibility of masks, sanitizers and other necessary items in bulk to be distributed in all migrant camps/non-camps on war footing. They also appealed Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner (RRC-M) Jammu T K Bhat, to assess the ground situation of Kashmiri migrants on daily basis and establish helpline numbers at Relief Commissioner’s office and act as nodal officer for all the matters and problems emerging forthwith, related to Kashmiri Pandit migrants in the present situation. Meanwhile, social activist Sunil Pandita while expressing his resentment over the lackadaisical approach of RRC, who is custodian of Kashmiri Pandit migrants but failed to make any adequate arrangements of spraying and fogging of disinfectants at Jagti and other migrant camps of Jammu to contain deadly coronavirus pandemic which has been spreading at alarming rate, he added. |
