2 JeM militants arrested, arms & ammunition recovered in Shopian | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Apr 20 : Police on Monday claimed to have arrested two Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militants, who were planning to attack security forces, and recovered arms and ammunition from them in south Kashmir district of Shopian. A police official told that following specific information about movement of militants who were planning to carry out an attack on security forces, a joint checkpoint of police, 55 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and 178 battalion of CRPF was established near Wachi Petrol station in Shopian. “Security forces noticed two persons moving suspiciously,” he said, adding that when they were asked to stop the suspects tried to flee from the spot. However, he said the suspects were overpowered by security forces and detained. “During checking, security forces recovered a pistol and two grenades from them,” he said. He said the duo was planning to attack the naka party deployed at Wachi, which remains deployed to implement lockdown to curtail the spread of Coronavirus. “During preliminary investigation both the accused claimed to be members of JeM and they were provided arms and ammunition recently,” he said. He said police has registered a case and initiated in this incident. |
