‘Agriculture Universities have no career plan for faculty members’ | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 8: The Agriculture Universities in Jammu and Kashmir have not formulated a proper career development plan for their faculty members, sources said. They said that due to this faculty members are nominated for training programmes without following any criteria in absence of set guidelines. According to career development plan envisaged in the committee report, every faculty member has to participate in one training programme every five years but it has been observed no plan has been framed by the varsities for imparting training to the faculty members. They informed that in absence of formulation of plan, faculty members were nominated without following any criteria and guidelines for trainings. Although there were clear directions from the higher ups to consider the observation of committee and to make sure its compliance so that genuine and deserving faculty members be considered for trainings through framed rules, which would benefit the faculty in their teaching as well as for their future career prospect. Sources informed that it has also been observed that there are lot of things yet to be done to reform the system to conduct examinations. As per fourth Deans’ Committee Report of the ICAR, which envisaged that a mechanism should be put in place including creation of examination cell, appointment of examiners, travelling and dearness allowance and attractive remuneration to paper setters and evaluators secret printing of papers, ensuring copying free examination, etc. but such mechanism is yet to be developed by the various faculties of universities. |
