Property worth lakhs destroyed in Srinagar fire, ex-gratia sanctioned | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, May 11: Property worth lakhs of rupees has been destroyed in a devastating fire in Hazratbal area of the Srinagar city early Monday morning. Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary sanctioned ex-gratia and shifted the affected families to government building, an official spokesman said. The blaze broke out in Hazratbal area. However, before the fire tenders could reach the spot, fire spread to nearby houses. Sources said five houses were damaged and a total of ten families were affected in the incident. However, there was no report of any loss of life or injury. Meanwhile, Dr Choudhary visited the affected families to console them and assess the damage from the tragic incident. The DC spent a fair amount of time with the affected families during his visit to them and also took a firsthand assessment of the damage that this tragic incident had caused. |
