Lock down 4.0 and Casual approach of Public towards COVID-19 | | | Wasiq Malik
As the lockdown 3.0 nearly comes to an end, our Honorable Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi addressed the nation and the Home Ministry of India announced Lockdown 4.0 which will be enforced upto 31th May 2020. Keeping in consideration the orders of Home Ministry, various States and Union Territories of India have framed new guidelines including opening of personal or public transport, markets etc and especially demarcation of Districts as Red, Orange and Green Zones. As far the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir is concerned little restriction were eased especially in Green and Orange Zones. But from the day of announcement of lockdown 4.0 and ease in restrictions, the general public starts showing a casual approach towards the COVID-19 pandemic. Doubtlessly, ease in restrictions is need of an hour but this casual approach of our general public like regular and group movement in markets will pose a serious thread to the whole area and all have to bear the brunt of it, keeping the fact in mind that the cases in India had crossed a mark of one lakh and death toll crossed three thousands. We must not let slip from our mind the situation of countries like China, Italy, and USA which were highly affected due to this pandemic. The enforcement of the first lockdown without consultation with the states raises fundamental questions. But it now proved fruitful for the whole nation as it reduced the transmission flow of infection upto some extent. Now, the testing rate for COVID-19 suspects increased tremendously and still growing exponentially. Testing, monitoring, contact tracing and travel history revealing will not only help to lower down the curve rather educating general public, implementation of social distancing norms, using of safety gears will help us to combat the minute virus of 0.12 microns. It’s a big challenge for our country of 1.3 billion populations with socio-economic disparities, and hundreds of millions of poor, unemployed, and underemployed labourers. The government of India now has to prepare various strategies to provide economical support to the economically unprivileged section of society and keep a near eye on their implementation on ground. General public especially uneducated mass must be made aware regarding the need of very serious, concerned and formal approach towards COVID-19 otherwise the days are not away when we have to face the situation as many of European countries are facing now a days. Now, we have to go with twin objectives in our mind primarily to combat this pandemic and saving lives and secondarily to cope up with the economic loss, maintaining our livelihoods. Lastly I would not forget to mention the loss of students and scholars of Jammu and Kashmir which they are bearing because of restrictions on 4th Generation (4G) internet connectivity and the student community of Jammu and Kashmir will surely react on it to power and responsible authorities on time. Ease in restriction and level 4 lockdown is a combined result of hard work by government, absolutely both power and opposition, frontline warriors, various NGOs and civil societies. Need of an hour is to constitute small group of 2-3 educated, enthusiastic members who try their best to aware the uneducated mass of society to end up their casual approach so that they would be minimal loss of lives during upcoming times. The whole nation is very much owed to our frontline warriors who are working 24 X 7 to combat COVID-19 pandemic. They are still working with same enthusiasm as on very first day to make our nation COVID 19 free. Every citizen of the nation extends gratitude and respect to them. Least movement to markets, using safety gears, following social distancing protocol, and staying home will help us to Stay Safe. A sensible, collaborative, realistic and scientific approach is must to move up with this pandemic or to curb it. |
