BARAMULLA, June 7: Infiltration bid has been foiled by Indian army in Nougam sector, ceasefire violation made by Pakistani side in Uri sector, bullets have been found in Uri area of north Kashmir. A statement issued by the army said that, on the night of 3rd June 2020, a patrol of Indian Army along the Line of Control in the Naugam Sector of north Kashmir spotted a group of Pakistani terrorists trying to infiltrate into Indian Territory.
On being challenged, the infiltrators retrieved back under the cover of darkness and inclement weather. In a hurry, the infiltrators left behind their rucksacks with winter clothing, batteries and other equipment to be used for their attempted crossing of the fence, said the army statement.
It said that, repeated attempts of infiltration in North Kashmir continue to be foiled by the alert and watchful Army units based on sound intelligence, thus blunting the nefarious designs of Pakistan to foment trouble in the Valley. However a senior police official said that Pakistan violates ceasefire in Keran and Rampur Sectors (J&K) today at about 1100 & 1240 hours respectively.
Pakistan initiated an Unprovoked Ceasefire Violation (CFV) along the LoC in Keran and Rampur Sectors of Districts Kupwara & Baramula (J&K). Army gave them befitting replies and enemy positions were targeted with high precision, the police official said. Meanwhile sources said that, due to shelling, some bullets of Paksitani side landed in Uri area today, which were found by the locals and the police authorities.
Even though some of the bullets have landed near the residence of SDPO Uri, a bullet has also hit water tank of police station Uri.
Roof of the police station has also been damaged due to Pakistani shelling, after which panic gripped among the locals of this border town, said sources. While there are reports that an army soldier has gone missing in Baramulla district, an army soldier (name and belt number withheld) has gone missing and is not traceable since Friday.
Reports said that the missing soldier who hails from Uttar Pradesh is 25 years old and was last seen near TCP (Transfer Control Protocol) Challa.
However police have lodged a missing report after the army informed it about the incident, said reports.
