Border people suffer as Pak firing continues: Bhardwaj | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, June 7: Senior Congress leader and member AICC, Mohinder Bhardwaj has said that BJP Government at the Centre has totally failed to contain Pakistan and safeguard the lives and properties of people living along International Border (IB) and Line of Control (LoC). What happened in Arnia and adjoining border villages a few days back in which Pakistan resorted to unprovoked firing to stall the ongoing construction work is a full testimony of the BJP and its dispensation's failure. Bhardwaj after embarking on a tour of these villages situated near the IB where he enquired about the well-being of the people and damages suffered in Pakistan's heinous action against villagers and labour engaged in their work, said that Pakistan army specifically targeted local labour which was working to construct a pathway undertaken by the local panchayat. " How could Pakistan dare to stall a developmental project going on in our territory? Does not it reflect utter failure and weakness of the central Government to checkmate Pakistan's evil designs? he asked. Talking to group of villagers and affected persons he further said that these incidents of unprovoked firing by Pak and Chinese incursion on Indo-Sino border have confirmed beyond any doubt that the BJP leadership down to the Jammu and Kashmir level were only engaging themselves in " jumlebazzi" and have taken no step during the last six years to tackle the disputes with the neighbouring countries. " Bhardwaj said that the people particularly those living in border villages are in utter distress due to COVID-19 related lockdown and related unemployment and on top of that continuous unprovoked Pakistan firing. In this connection he referred to the assistance provided by the Congress in Bishnah constituency to poor and needy families in the form of dry ration and other commodities needed for cooking food. He further announced that the Congress, as per the directions of the party president Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, would continue to provide relief material to the needy people particularly those living under trying conditions on the Indo-Pak border. |
