JKAP seeks mass promotion for all students | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, June 8: Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) has demanded mass-promotion of all the students in colleges and UG courses including medical, engineering and other professional courses across the Union Territory in view of covid-19 lockdown. “The students are worried about the way authorities in higher education have been asking the sixth semester students to appear in examination. Instead of asking students to appear, the Government should mass promote the students especially in view of the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown,” said JKAP, youth leader, Raqeeq Ahmed Khan, addressing a press conference in Jammu. During his interaction with the media, Khan said, “The students pursuing courses though UG/PG in Jammu University and Kashmir University have not been promoted. Whereas, Kashmir University has told their students that they will give them four to five internal assessment questions which they will do from their home and accordingly, submit it online.” All the colleges affiliated with the University of Jammu and Cluster University Colleges in Jammu have told six semester students that they will have to answer 180 multiple choice questions in 3 hours, said Khan referring to the concerns of the students who want that they should be mass promoted. The JKAP, youth leader, said the Mathematics and Chemistry students have expressed their concern saying they would not be able to answer multiple choice questions. Claiming that the students of these cluster universities have approached him, the JKAP leader said, the students were worried because they were not taken into confidence before reaching this decision. Anuj Manhas JKAP Students Union leader said that the decision to hold the examination was taken in hurry and it was not in the interest of the students as well as of faculty members.
