JAMMU, June 17: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by the displaced inhabitants of village Saddal in tehsil Mongri of Udhampur district, which was devastated due to landslide in the year 2014. The writ petition has been necessitated on account of the failure of the respondents to take any steps to rehabilitate the landslide affected families for the past over five years. A Division Bench of J&K High Court Jammu Wing Comprisig Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Vinod Chatterji Koul after hearing Adv Deepika Mahajan for the PIL whereas AAG Aseem Sawhney for the UT, directed to respondents to file a time line of the completion of the infrastructure (roads, water, electricity etc) before the next date. When the PIL Came-up for hearing, Division Bench observed that A status report dated 12th June 2020 has been filed by Dr. Piyush Singla, Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur informing this court that by an order dated 30th April 2020, State land of five marlas each on lease has been granted to 132 families including 45 families who have been identified by the Naib Tehsildar, Udhampur as temporary rehabilitated at the Divisional Disaster Management Store, Sui.
