AJKPC starts UT-wide programmes to pay homage to martyred Ajay Pandita Bharti | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, June 19: All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference (AJKPC), the frontline organization of elected Panchayat members, has started UT-wide programmes to pay tributes to martyred Sarpanch Ajay Pandita Bharti who was brutally killed by terrorists in South Kashmir. The ‘Shardhajali programme’ were started from Rajouri town where 16 out of the total 19 Block Development Council (BDC) chairpersons and elected Sarpanchs and Panchs of the districts paid their homage to the martyred Sarpanch and recalled his contributions in strengthening the grassroots level democracy in Jammu and Kashmir. The programme was organised by the district Rajouri unit of AJKPC. Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Mohammad Nazir Sheikh was the chief guest in the programme while the AJKPC UT president Anil Sharma presided over the function. During the programme, the Deputy Commissioner interacted with the elected Panchayat members including BDC chairpersons and listened to the problems being faced by them in carrying out their day to day activities. “We appeal to the government especially ADGP (Security) that the security of Panchayat members should be a priority and an immediate security audit should be conducted. We are ready to provide the list of Panchayat members who are vulnerable to the present situation,” Anil Sharma said while addressing the gathering. Sharma said the Panchayat members across the Union Territory would hold ‘Shardhajali programmes’ at every district level to pay rich tributes to brave martyred Sarpanch Ajay Pandita Bharti.
