SRINAGAR, June 19: The death toll due to Corona Virus in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 75 as four more persons including a 15 days old child died due to the virus. At the same time 125 new positive cases were reported today. Reports said that fresh COVID-19 deaths were reported from Nowshera-Srinagar, Bemina-Srinagar, Shopian and Sopore-Baramulla. So far 75 COVID-19 patients have died in Jammu & Kashmir. While 66 Corona Virus patients have died in Kashmir, nine such persons have died in the Jammu division. Srinagar tops the list with 18 deaths so far. In the meantime, Srinagar reported 31 fresh cases of Corona Virus followed by Pulwama 18 cases, Kulgam 11 cases, Baramulla 10 cases, Jammu and Anantnag eight cases each, Shopian, Bandipora, Kupwara and Kathua seven cases each, Samba four cases, Budgam and Udhampur two cases each, Ganderbal, Poonch and Rajouri one case each. The Jammu & Kashmir government through the media bulletin informed that 125 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 23 from Jammu division and 102 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 5,680. Also, four COVID-19 deaths have been reported from Kashmir division. Moreover, 50 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 25 from Jammu Division and 25 from Kashmir Division. Out of 5,680 positive cases, 2,411 are active positive, 3,194 have recovered and 75 have died; nine in Jammu division and 66 in Kashmir division. The bulletin said that out of 2, 95,202 test results available, 2, 89,522 samples have been tested as negative till date. Additionally, till date 2, 49,382 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which included 39,182 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 31 in hospital quarantine, 2,411 in hospital isolation and 45,832 under home surveillance. Besides, 1, 61,851 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Kulgam has 664 positive cases, 195 active positive, 461 recoveries, eight deaths; Srinagar has 608 positive cases, 368 active positive, 222 recovered, 18 deaths; Shopian has 602 positive cases, 200 active positive, 393 recovered, nine deaths; Anantnag district has 595 positive cases, 166 active positive, 424 recovered, five deaths; Baramulla has 562 positive cases, 282 active positive, 267 recovered, 13 deaths. “Kupwara has 428 positive cases, 110 active positive, 313 recovered, five deaths; Pulwama reported 300 positive cases, 228 active positive, 70 recovered, two deaths; Budgam has 291 positive cases, 163 active positive, 123 recovered, five deaths; Bandipora has 258 positive cases, 50 active positive, 207 recovered, one death and Ganderbal has 66 positive cases, 10 active positive, 56 recoveries,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 298 positive cases, 113 active positive, 179 recoveries, six deaths; Udhampur has 203 positive cases, 116 active positive, 86 recovered, one death; Ramban has 201 positive cases, 85 active positive, 116 recoveries; Kathua has 182 positive cases, 85 active positive, 97 recovered; Samba has 124 positive cases, 77 active positive, 47 recoveries. “Poonch has 108 positive cases, 58 active positive, 50 recoveries; Rajouri has 73 positive cases, 58 active positive, 14 recovered, one death; Doda has 63 positive cases, 23 active positive, 39 recoveries, one death; Reasi has 31 positive cases, nine active positive, 22 recovered and Kishtwar has 23 positive cases, 15 active positive and eight recovered,” reads the bulletin. Out of 5,680 positive cases, 1958 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 metres from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
