JAMMU, June 19: United Democratic Alliance (UDA) held a special meeting of its executive committee and paid floral tributes to 20 gallant warriors, who made supreme sacrifice in defending the honour and sovereignty of our nation, in Galwan Valley, Laddakh. A two minutes silence was also observed in memory of martyred soldiers. On the sidelines Convenor of the UDA, Manish Sawhney, expressed his concern and anguish on the decision of government to carry out delimitation process on the basis of the census figures of 2011,which are fudged, manipulated and discriminatory and in consonance with the agenda of giving more assembly seats to Kashmir region to continue with their hegemony. He further questioned the government about the logic and basis of increase of seven seats, while formulating the re organization act, post conversion of state to UT. He urged the government to allow complete freedom to the delimitation commission so as to proceed without any bindings/term of reference and based on the present parameters wherein 75 percent weightage be given to number of voters, while declaring the constituencies. Process of delimitation should be based on fresh census and not 2011 data. Meeting was attended by co-convener Col SS Pathania, Rajeev Mahajan, Krishan Manhas, Sudhir Dogra, Vikas Bakshi and Rajan. |
