JAMMU, June 19: SKUAST-J Alumni Association welcomed Prof. J. P. Sharma on occupying the highest and most coveted post of Vice Chancellor of SKUAST-Jammu as also being ex officio Chief Patron of the Alumni Association. In a written communication, Prof. V. S. Verma, President of the Alumni Association expressed confidence that being replete with vast experience in implementation of various schemes in agriculture and allied sectors and a renowned personality in the field of extension at national and international level, the Association looks forward that his vast experience will certainly benefit the farming community of Jammu region. Prof. Verma hoped that under the able leadership of the new incumbent, Prime Minister’s slogan of doubling farmers’ income will get practically realized enhancing famers’ income to a fascinating, acceptable and gratifying level preventing farmers from abandoning farming. This will reverse the trend of our younger generation saying goodbye to farming as a profession and major source of their livelihood. He further added that the success of scientists of SKUAST-Jammu in educating farmers for adopting integrated farming system and inclusion of high value cash crops will certainly make agriculture a profitable business enhancing farmers’ income motivating farmers of other parts of the country to adopt the SKUAST-J Model of agriculture. |
