RAJOURI, June 23: District administration Rajouri today discussed modalities for conservation of local water bodies as per the National Green Tribunal guidelines. Chairing a meeting here today, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Nazir Sheikh decided to constitute Committee in each tehsil comprising Tehsildar, BDO and representative of Jal Shakti Department submit the list of the existing ponds, lakes, water bodies and other artificial water conservation structures developed by the Rural Development Department within a week's time so that the same can be shared with the concerned authorities for necessary action. He asked the concerned tehsildars to also provide the list of the water bodies which have been encroached so that steps can be taken for eviction of the same within the shortest possible time. nhe sought effective implementation of National Green Tribunal guidelines. The Deputy Commissioner directed the Executive Officers of Municipal bodies to ensure proper management of solid and liquid waste and avoid from dumping the same into the rivers. It was also decided in the meeting that the Department of Jal Shakti would submit a plan regarding the management of runaway water from the traditional water bodies. The Jal shakti Department was entrusted with the job to assess the water discharge of the traditional water bodies.
