SKUAST-J organizes national webinar | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 22: A national webinar on ‘Surveillance of Rabies in Animals and Initiatives in its Control’ was organized by Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, R. S. Pura. More than 500 scientists, teachers and students from across the country registered for the webinar.The webinar was inaugurated by Prof. J. P. Sharma, Vice-Chancellor of SKUAST-Jammu. Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Sharma highlighted the graveness of the rabies that is responsible for around 20,000 human deaths in India annually. He emphasized on the sharing of knowledge among masses for control and prevention of this disease. The expert lecture was presented by Dr. Srikrishna Isloor, OIE (World Organization for Animal Health) designated expert on Rabiesfrom Karnataka Veterinary Animal and Fisheries Sciences University, Bengaluru. He discussed recent developments in diagnosis of rabies in animals and Government initiatives in its control. The programme was attended by various University officials and Faculty members including Dr. M.S. Bhadwal, Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, R. S. Pura. Dr. M. A. Malik, Head, Division of Veterinary Public Health and Epidemiology and Chairman, Organizing Committee presented the vote of thanks. Dr. Maninder Singh, Dr. M. Rashid and Dr. H.K.Sharma co-ordinated the webinar proceedings.
