Corona discrimination: 1000 injections for-Kashmir, 20 for Jammu | | | Ashwani Sharma Early times report
Udhampur, July 23: In yet another glaring instance of regional discrimination, the administration has ordered 1000 Redmesivir injections for Kashmir and 20 for Jammu. General Manager of J&K Medical Supplies Corporation Limited (JKMSCL) on July 22, 2020 placed an order for supplying 1020 Redmesivir injections meant to treating critical COVID patients with one M/s Mylan Laboratories Limited. According to the details available with Early Times the GM asked the supplier to provide 500 Redmesivir injections to Director Health Services Kashmir, 500 to Principal Government Medical College Srinagar and only 20 to Principal Government Medical College Jammu. In the letter JKMSCL General Manager has asked the company to supply the injections within a week and price of injection mentioned in order has been fixed at Rs 3078 each. Sources informed that same injections are sold in the open market at exorbitant cost. When contacted Financial Commissioner, Health And Medical Education Department Atal Dulloo, said that the injection was meant for critical patients only and has an expiry of only a month. However, certain quarters in Jammu region have flayed the discriminatory attitude of the authorities even in dealing with the COVID-19 patients of both the regions. |
