Cancellation of Amarnnath Yatra a mature decision: Suri | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, July 23: Terming the decision by Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) of cancelling the annual Shri Amarnath Yatra 2020 due to rising cases of COVID-19, as responsible and mature, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K Executive Member Raman Suri today said that this move will help save lives as no pilgrim as well as no person from the management side will converge and crowd at any place. Raman Suri said that the devotees all over the world must be feeling sad about the decision but since it is aimed at saving lives, it is absolutely apt and in the right direction. In addition, Chari Mubarak has already reached the Shankracharya Temple in Srinagar and all rituals are being followed by a select few to keep the flame of faith burning. This itself is a great work where saints are praying for world peace, good health of all and the end of COVID-19 crisis. Raman Suri, while lauding the decision of SASB led by Lieutenant Governor G C Murmu, said that there was no other way through which the rush or people's convergence could have been stopped at the places that enroute the Cave Shrine. Raman Suri added that this decision of SASB has been taken in line with all other religious events that have also been cancelled during the past. Meanwhile, Raman Suri appreciated the SASB, Tourism department, Jammu’s as well as Srinagar's Civil and Police administration besides Paramilitary forces in making all arrangements to conduct safe and smooth yatra. He said that entire system was prepared to go ahead but decision to prioritize lives of people in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic was absolutely necessary. |
