The All India Kargil Ladakh Student Union had called for a strike on Friday in support of the demands of unemployed youth of the region. The strike call was supported by different political and religious parties of the UT. Shops and business establishments reopened and traffic was plying on the roads in Kargil and other major towns and tehsil headquarters. Work in government offices which was also affected on Friday was normal today. The student union said the DSSR has failed to declare the results for different posts though interview has been held last year. They said students of Ladakh region cannot apply for different vacant posts in JKB, adding that either the examination for recruitment in the bank should be postponed till their eligibility or some share should be reserved for youths of Ladakh. As per present rules, youths from Ladakh are not eligible to apply in the JKB as domicile rules have not yet been framed.
