SRINAGAR, July 25: The death toll due to Corona Virus in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 305 as nine more people died due to virus in past 24 hours. Meanwhile, 523 fresh cases of COVID-19 were reported today. Reports said that while four deaths occurred in Srinagar district, a death each was reported from Jammu, Baramulla, Budgam, Bandipora and Ganderbal districts. As on date 283 COVID-19 deaths have taken place in Kashmir, while as the number of such deaths in Jammu is 22. Srinagar tops the list with 86 deaths with Ramban, Reasi and Kishtwar reporting no death so far. Reports said that Srinagar reported 145 fresh cases of Corona Virus followed by Jammu 66 cases, Pulwama 62 cases, Budgam 56 cases, Bandipora 30 cases, Kathua 27 cases, Anantnag 20 cases, Baramulla and Doda 18 cases each, Rajouri 16 cases, Shopian 11 cases, Kupwara and Kishtwar 10 cases each, Ganderbal and Ramban nine cases each, Kulgam six cases, Poonch four cases and Udhampur, Samba & Reasi two cases each. The Jammu & Kashmir government through the media bulletin informed that 523 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 156 from Jammu division and 367 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 17,305. Also nine COVID-19 deaths have been reported; one from Jammu division and eight from Kashmir Division. Moreover, 300 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 41 from Jammu Division and 259 from Kashmir Division. Out of 17,305 positive cases, 7,483 are active positive, 9,517 have recovered and 305 have died; 22 in Jammu division and 283 in Kashmir division. Out of 5, 70,508 test results available, 5, 53,203 samples have tested negative till date. Additionally, till date 3, 50,946 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 43,332 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 12 in hospital quarantine, 7,483 in hospital isolation and 40,852 under home surveillance. Besides, 2, 58,962 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 3,793 positive cases, 2,189 active positive, 1,518 recovered, 86 deaths; Baramulla has 1,758 positive cases, 587 active positive, 1108 recovered, 63 deaths; Kulgam has 1,443 positive cases, 501 active positive, 916 recovered, 26 deaths; Shopian has 1,363 positive cases, 457 active positive, 886 recovered, 20 deaths; Pulwama has 1,194 positive cases, 584 active positive, 594 recovered, 16 deaths. “Anantnag has 1,151 positive cases, 402 active positive, 728 recovered, 21 deaths; Kupwara has 1,018 positive cases, 358 active positive, 644 recovered, 16 deaths; Budgam has 1,040 positive cases, 408 active positive, 611 recovered, 21 deaths; Bandipora has 591 positive cases, 187 active positive, 396 recovered, eight deaths and Ganderbal has 318 positive cases, 163 active positive, 149 recovered, six deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 823 positive cases, 327 active positive, 482 recovered, 14 deaths; Rajouri has 524 positive cases, 399 active positive, 123 recovered, two deaths; Ramban has 472 positive cases, 232 active positive, 240 recovered; Kathua has 460 positive cases, 161 active positive, 298 recovered, one death; Udhampur has 388 positive cases, 88 active positive, 299 recovered, one death. “Samba has 364 positive cases, 161 active positive, 202 recovered, one death; Doda has 228 positive cases, 117 active positive, 109 recovered, two deaths; Poonch has 170 positive cases, 34 active positive, 135 recovered, one death; Kishtwar has 106 positive cases, 72 active positive, 34 recovered and Reasi has 101 positive cases, 56 active positive, 45 recovered,” reads the bulletin. Out of 17,305 positive cases in J&K, 3,832 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 metres from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
