After deserting NC, PC leader targets former party again | Once bitten, twice shy! | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, July 25: Even as the Abdullah family had been appreciating the work of a senior Peoples Conference leader, who was previously with the National Conference, the said leader has yet again trained guns on the NC. For the past few days, the PC leader, who was holding a key chair in the Srinagar Municipal Corporation had been enjoying the support of the NC in the SMC. But now the NC looks ahead to field its own party candidate for the key post in SMC for which elections have been postponed by three months. Sources said while the NC had supported the PC leader in the SMC, the Abdullah family had gone a step ahead to appreciate his work in public. But after the said PC leader was sacked from the position he was holding in the SMC, the relations strained again. Sources said the PC leader had inputs that NC would not support him in the elections in the SMC any more. Ahead of the elections the PC leader is understood to have approached the NC for their support but that he was shown cold response. Sources said the PC leader got annoyed and started abusing NC leaders in public. It is pertinent to mention that till a month ago, the NC had been supporting the said PC leader in the SMC and that the party was also appreciating his work. Sources said now the NC looks ahead to support some alternative candidate in the fray for the elections that have been deferred by three months in SMC. It is pertinent to mention that the said leader was sacked from the chair on support of the BJP while elections were to be held on July 14. But the elections got postponed with the government saying that the same was done in the wake of Covid19 cases. Before quitting from NC in 2018, the said PC leader was a close aid of Omar Abdullah. Despite repeated attempts the said PC leader was not available for comments. |
