IGM demands establishment of CUs at Chenab, Peer Panjal regions | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, July 25: While welcoming the Union Government’s decision to sanction a Central University for Ladakh, the International Gurjar Mahasabha (IGM) demanded to establish the Central Universities (CUs) at Chenab and Peer Panjal regions of J&K. In a meeting of the Mahasabha held here today through video conferencing, the members led by their vice president, Choudhary Rashid Azam Inqlabi demanded that due to prevailing circumstances the students of far flung areas are facing great difficulties in getting higher education particularly the students of Chenab and Peer Panjal regions as the students have to move in different parts of country for pursuing higher studies. Inqlabi urged the Prime Minister for giving personal attention to also open two more central universities at Bhaderwah in district Doda or somewhere in district Kishtwar while the other in twin border districts of Poonch and Rajouri, either at Surankot or any other suitable central place. The meeting also requested the Prime Minister to establish the proposed varsity for Ladakh in district Kargil as there is already one Ladakh University functioning in Leh since 2019, adding that if the central university is opened in Kargil the students of both the districts would be able to get education at their door steps. Choudahry Inqlabi appeals to members of civil society to support the demand for establishing central universities at Chenab and Peer Panjal regions of J&K. |
