Chhari Pujan peformed, holy Mace to be taken to cave by air | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, July 25: Chhari Pujan, associated with annual pilgrimage to holy Amarnath Cave shrine in south Kashmir was performed on Saturday evening at Shri Amareshwar temple, Dashnami Akhara near here. However, the Chhari Mubarak, holy Mace of Lord Shiva remained in the Amareshwar temple as the pilgrimage-2020 has been cancelled due to COVID-19 pandemic. In the past the Chhari Mubarak used to leave on foot for holy cave shrine for final pujan and darshan on Rakshabandan day. This year too aerial route will be taken to reach the holy cave for final pujan. A spokesman of the Dashnami Akhara said that in connection with Yatra, Chhari-Pujan was performed this evening at Amareshwar Temple, with religious fervor and gaiety chanting Vedic Hymn by Mahant Deependra Giri ji along with selected number of Sadhus and devotees following all the protocols set by the Administration due to Covid-19. He said as described in scriptures, this is an important ritual to be performed traditionally on ‘Nag-Panchami’ (Shravan Shukla Paksha Panchmi) before leaving for the main course of pilgrimage. Though this year’s annual pilgrimage has been cancelled due to Covid-19 pandemic but customary rituals associated with the pilgrimage shall be performed till last one to preserve the age-old traditions, he said. |
