SRINAGAR, July 28: A medico was among the 12 people who died due to Corona Virus in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir in the past 24 hours. The union territory reported 489 fresh cases of virus today with the number of positive cases reaching 18,879. Reports said that Dr. Shabir Ahmad Malik posted at Gurez in Bandipora district died due to COVID-19 today. Srinagar reported four new COVID-19 deaths while as three such deaths took place in Kupwara district. A death each was reported from Baramulla, Kulgam, Budgam, Bandipora and Ramban districts. Reports said that Srinagar reported 138 fresh cases of Corona Virus followed by Jammu 43 cases, Pulwama 39 cases, Ganderbal 33 cases, Budgam 32 cases, Baramulla 30 cases, Kupwara 28 cases, Bandipora, Rajouri and Ramban 23 cases each, Shopian 21 cases, Kathua 19 cases, Udhampur eight cases, Kulgam seven cases, Samba six cases, Poonch and Reasi five cases each, Anantnag four cases and Doda two cases. The Jammu & Kashmir government through the media bulletin informed that 489 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 134 from Jammu division and 355 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 18,879. Also 12 COVID-19 deaths have been reported; one from Jammu division and 11 from Kashmir Division. Moreover, 483 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 46 from Jammu Division and 437 from Kashmir Division. Out of 18,879 positive cases, 7,661 are active positive, 10,885 have recovered and 333 have died; 24 in Jammu division and 309 in Kashmir division. Out of 6, 03,728 test results available, 5, 84,849 samples have tested negative till date. Additionally, till date 3, 60,761 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 45,651 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 12 in hospital quarantine, 7,661 in hospital isolation and 41,025 under home surveillance. Besides, 2, 66,079 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 4,273 positive cases, 2,458 active positive, 1,717 recovered, 98 deaths; Baramulla has 1,815 positive cases, 471 active positive, 1,280 recovered, 64 deaths; Kulgam has 1,475 positive cases, 429 active positive, 1,019 recovered, 27 deaths; Shopian has 1,412 positive cases, 336 active positive, 1,056 recovered, 20 deaths; Pulwama has 1,296 positive cases, 619 active positive, 658 recovered, 19 deaths. “Anantnag district has 1,233 positive cases, 288 active positive, 924 recovered, 21 deaths; Budgam has 1,183 positive cases, 499 active positive, 660 recovered, 24 deaths; Kupwara has 1,066 positive cases, 311 active positive, 735 recovered, 20 deaths; Bandipora has 675 positive cases, 238 active positive, 427 recovered, 10 deaths and Ganderbal has 384 positive cases, 135 active positive, 243 recovered, six deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 940 positive cases, 410 active positive, 515 recovered, 15 deaths; Rajouri has 600 positive cases, 416 active positive, 182 recovered, two deaths; Ramban has 525 positive cases, 272 active positive, 252 recovered, one death; Kathua has 494 positive cases, 169 active positive, 324 recovered, one death; Udhampur has 417 positive cases, 114 active positive, 302 recovered, one death. “Samba has 392 positive cases, 170 active positive, 221 recovered, one death; Doda has 259 positive cases, 133 active positive, 124 recovered, two deaths; Poonch has 192 positive cases, 52 active positive, 139 recovered, one death; Kishtwar has 129 positive cases, 78 active positive, 51 recovered and Reasi has 119 positive cases, 63 active positive, 56 recovered,” reads the bulletin. Out of 18,879 positive cases in J&K, 4,137 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 metres from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
