Do not lower guard as mouth of COVID-19 is wide open: DDMA on Eid celebrations | | | Early Times REport
Srinagar, July 30: The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Srinagar has warned people not to lower guard as mouth of COVID-19 was still wide open which has already consumed over 340 lives and thousands were ill in the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir. DDMA chairman Shahid Choudary, who is District Magistrate Srinagar said, ‘Eid is here. We need it to bring us some cheer in these miserable times. But COVID-19 has opened its mouth wide open and we cannot drop our guard. Please watch and share.’ He appealed to people to spread this message so that more precautions could be taken during the Eid-ul-Azha celebrations. Dr Choudhary said that in view of latest guidelines for home quarantine of asymptomatic Covid positive cases, we have constituted area-wise teams for regular monitoring in Srinagar district. He further said in case of any problem, such patients and families may feel free to contact the DDMA. The DDMA chairman has recently said that the J&K Medical Supplies Corporation Limited (JKMSCL) recently added 200 ventilators to our hospital infrastructure, more on the way. Latest medical studies, however, suggest even these were of little help. In this story, precaution still remains the ultimate best cure, he added. Meanwhile, the administration has relaxed lock down restriction yesterday for two days in Srinagar to allow Eid shopping. Though only essential service shops were allowed to function, all other shops also were open during the day on Wednesday when heavy rush of people could be seen in the markets.
