SRINAGAR, July 30: Corona Virus continues to cause large scale fatalities in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir as 17 more people died due to the virus in the past 24 hours. Kashmir division reported 16 fresh deaths with Jammu division reporting one death. With this the number of COVID-19 casualties in Jammu & Kashmir reached 365. Meanwhile, 450 fresh cases of virus were reported today and with these new cases the number of positive patients in the union territory is 19,869. Kashmir continues to bear the brunt of COVID-19 cases. Srinagar reported 10 fresh deaths followed by Shopian three deaths and Jammu, Baramulla, Kulgam and Budgam one death each. So far 339 people have died due to Corona Virus in Kashmir while as number of deaths in Jammu are 26. Srinagar tops the list with 113 deaths. Srinagar reported 183 fresh cases of COVID-19 followed by Baramulla 42 cases, Jammu 38 cases, Bandipora 33 cases, Pulwama 32 cases, Anantnag and Budgam 20 cases each, Kupwara 16 cases, Ganderbal and Rajouri 13 cases each, Poonch 12 cases, Udhampur nine cases, Shopian six cases, Doda four cases, Samba three cases, Kulgam and Kishtwar two cases each and Ramban & Reasi one case each. The Jammu & Kashmir government through the media informed that 450 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 83 from Jammu division and 367 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 19,869. Also 17 COVID-19 deaths have been reported; one from Jammu division and 16 from Kashmir Division. Moreover, 520 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 189 from Jammu Division and 331 from Kashmir Division. Out of 19,869 positive cases, 7,662 are active positive, 11,842 have recovered and 365 have died; 26 in Jammu division and 339 in Kashmir division. Out of 6, 27,387 test results available, 6, 07,518 samples have tested negative till date. Additionally, till date 3, 66,937 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 47,281 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, six in hospital quarantine, 7,662 in hospital isolation and 40,583 under home surveillance. Besides, 2, 71,040 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 4,658 positive cases, 2,658 active positive, 1,887 recovered, 113 deaths; Baramulla has 1,877 positive cases, 500 active positive, 1,309 recovered, 68 deaths; Kulgam has 1,493 positive cases, 297 active positive, 1,168 recovered, 28 deaths; Shopian has 1,422 positive cases, 268 active positive, 1,131 recovered, 23 deaths; Pulwama has 1,395 positive cases, 651 active positive, 725 recovered, 19 deaths. “Anantnag has 1,278 positive cases, 260 active positive, 994 recovered, 24 deaths; Budgam has 1,248 positive cases, 522 active positive, 700 recovered, 26 deaths; Kupwara has 1085 positive cases, 274 active positive, 791 recovered, 20 deaths; Bandipora has 711 positive cases, 247 active positive, 452 recovered, 12 deaths and Ganderbal has 401 positive cases, 135 active positive, 260 recovered, six deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 1,027 positive cases, 465 active positive, 545 recovered, 17 deaths; Rajouri has 646 positive cases, 398 active positive, 246 recovered, two deaths; Ramban has 534 positive cases, 193 active positive, 340 recovered, one death; Kathua has 511 positive cases, 180 active positive, 330 recovered, one death; Udhampur has 436 positive cases, 107 active positive, 328 recovered, one death. “Samba has 407 positive cases, 163 active positive, 243 recovered, one death; Doda has 269 positive cases, 128 active positive, 139 recovered, two deaths; Poonch has 209 positive cases, 66 active positive, 142 recovered, one death; Kishtwar has 136 positive cases, 82 active positive, 54 recovered and Reasi has 126 positive cases, 68 active positive, 58 recovered,” reads the bulletin. Out of 19,869 positive cases in J&K, 4,273 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 metres from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
