JAMMU, July 30: National Bone and Joint Day is being celebrated on the 4th of August every year since 2012. Every year week-long activities starting from the 1st of August to the 7th of August have been organized throughout the country. The theme for ‘Bone and Joint Day’ every year is assigned by the President of the Indian Orthopaedic Association. For this year, the President of the Association, Prof R.C Meena, senior Professor& Head, Department of Orthopaedics, SMS Medical College, Jaipur, has assigned the theme as “Prevention of Deformity in Degenerative Disease”. The Association will be conducting various awareness programmes for the general public pertaining to this theme. This year the “bone and Joint Day’, is being celebrated during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The orthopaedic patients and surgeons have difficult choices to make in relation to the management of a variety of injuries (like fractures and dislocations) and urgent Orthopaedic diseases (like arthritis, spinal disorders, bone tumors). As per directives of Indian Orthopaedic Association, Jammu and Kashmir Orthopaedic Association (JKOA) has planned to conduct series of activities on the occasion for the benefit of general public.
