SRINAGAR, Aug 1: With 10 more deaths in the past 24 hours the death toll due to Corona Virus in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 388. Meanwhile, 613 fresh cases of COVID-19 were reported today. Srinagar reported five fresh deaths followed by Baramulla two deaths with a death each in Pulwama, Budgam and Kupwara districts. In the Kashmir valley 360 persons died due to COVID-19 with the number of such deaths being 28 in Jammu so far. Srinagar tops the list with 126 deaths. Srinagar reported 305 fresh cases followed by Pulwama 58 cases, Jammu 52 cases, Baramulla 23 cases, Bandipora 22 cases, Rajouri 21 cases, Doda 19 cases, Shopian 16 cases, Budgam 14 cases, Anantnag and Udhampur 12 cases each, Ganderbal and Reasi 10 cases each, Kishtwar, Kathua and Poonch eight cases each, Samba five cases, Kulgam and Kupwara four cases each and Ramban two cases. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 613 new positive cases of Novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 145 from Jammu division and 468 from Kashmir division have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 20,972. Also 10 COVID-19 deaths have been reported from Kashmir Division. Moreover, 654 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 96 from Jammu Division and 558 from Kashmir Division. Out of 20,972 positive cases, 7,713 are active positive, 12,871 have recovered and 388 have died; 28 in Jammu division and 360 in Kashmir division. Out of 6, 47,271 test results available, 6, 26,299 samples have tested negative till date. Additionally, till date 3, 70,172 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 45,128 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, six in hospital quarantine, 7,713 in hospital isolation and 41,038 under home surveillance. Besides, 2, 75,899 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 5,091 positive cases, 2,733 active positive, 2,232 recovered, 126 deaths; Baramulla has 1,924 positive cases, 505 active positive, 1,349 recovered, 70 deaths; Pulwama has 1,538 positive cases, 723 active positive, 794 recovered, 21 deaths; Kulgam has 1,508 positive cases, 240 active positive, 1,240 recovered, 28 deaths; Shopian has 1,446 positive cases, 198 active positive, 1,225 recovered, 23 deaths. “Anantnag has 1,311 positive cases, 262 active positive, 1,025 recovered, 24 deaths; Budgam has 1291 positive cases, 546 active positive, 717 recovered, 28 deaths; Kupwara has 1,098 positive cases, 141 active positive, 936 recovered, 21 deaths; Bandipora has 755 positive cases, 259 active positive, 483 recovered, 13 deaths and Ganderbal has 421 positive cases, 144 active positive, 271 recovered, six deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 1,122 positive cases, 512 active positive, 591 recovered, 19 deaths; Rajouri has 691 positive cases, 425 active positive, 264 recovered, two deaths; Ramban has 537 positive cases, 159 active positive, 377 recovered, one death; Kathua has 530 positive cases, 177 active positive, 352 recovered, one death; Udhampur has 472 positive cases, 133 active positive, 338 recovered, one death. “Samba has 430 positive cases, 177 active positive, 252 recovered, one death; Doda has 288 positive cases, 117 active positive, 169 recovered, two deaths; Poonch has 218 positive cases, 75 active positive, 142 recovered, one death; Reasi has 156 positive cases, 97 active positive, 59 recovered and Kishtwar has 145 positive cases, 90 active positive, 55 recovered,” reads the bulletin. Out of 20,972 positive cases in J&K, 4,401 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 metres from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
