Need based workers of Forest, Social Forestry deptts suffer as salary denied to them for months now | | | Ajay Sharma Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 13: Scores of need based workers of the Department of Forest and allied wings in the twin districts of Poonch and Rajouri are up against many odds since they are not being paid wages for the past so many months. A group of these need based workers while narrating their tale to Early Times said that they are facing huge difficulties as the wages are not being paid to them for months now. They said that while salaries are pending in some cases for eight months in many others it is pending for the last one year. “It is very virtually becoming difficult for us to carry out daily chores of life more so when somebody falls ill in our family. If the permanent employees are getting salary during the lockdown period what is stopping the government in releasing the same in our favour,” said the need based workers. These need based workers are discharging their duties in different forest divisions of Rajouri and Poonch divisions and also in the Social Forestry department. They have been discharging their duties during the pandemic as well, but still then the salaries are being denied to them. These people are paid meager Rs. 6,750 per month. When contacted, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of Poonch and Rajouri divisions accepted that salaries for need based workers are pending for months now. They said that salary should be paid to these people at the earliest. A senior officer on the condition of anonymity said that salary for the workers appointed under CAMPA should be released without any further delay. |
