Nearly 30 fear-stricken BJP leaders quit party in Valley; Jammu leaders more concerned about advisory council
8/14/2020 12:04:38 AM

Early Times Report

Jammu, August 13: Realizing that the senior leadership of the party in J&K is more concerned about constituting a political advisory committee to enjoy power, over two dozen BJP leaders including some elected Panchayat members have resigned from the party during the last one week in Kashmir Valley.
Credible sources said that there was a feeling among majority of Kashmir based BJP cadre that their senior leaders, especially Jammu based, was more particular about enjoying power than security of those workers who have been associated with the party despite threats of the terrorists.
After July 18 when party leader Wasim Bari along with his brother and father was killed by the terrorists nothing effective has been done to ensure safety and security of the workers. Except Pakistan bashing no concrete action has been taken on the ground so most of the workers are demoralized.
Killing of the Bari family was followed by a series of target attacks on BJP workers in which two of them have lost their lives. Five BJP leaders have been killed since July 8 in the valley.
On July 8, Wasim Bari, a BJP leader along with his father and brother who too were associated with the party were killed outside their home in north Kashmir Bandipora district. In the last one week, terrorists have carried out three attacks on BJP leaders.
On August 8, a BJP leader Abdul Hamid Najar in central Kashmir’s Budgam district was attacked while he was on morning walk. Later he succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.
On August 5, terrorists shot dead BJP Sarpanch Sajad Ahmad Khanday in Qazigund area of south Kashmir. While a BJP Sarpanch Arif Ahmad was shot at, leaving him critically injured.
