KATHUA, Aug 19: District Development Commissioner, O.P. Bhagat today convened a grievances camp here at village Barwal and listened to the issues of locals. Executive Engineers of PWD, Railway, Tehsildar Kathua, local Sarpanch and those of adjoining areas and a large number of people were present on the occasion. The people apprised the DDC about the problems faced by them due to water logging at under construction Railway sub way, issue of proposed Industrial estate, alignment of proposed canal from Ujh Multipurpose Project and maintenance of ponds. Responding to the demands, the DDC said the public that the matter of proposed industrial estate would be taken up with the higher authorities. He also assured the people that alignment of canal from the proposed Ujh Multipurpose Project will be taken up with concerned authorities of the project. The DDC passed instructions to Executive Engineer Railways for looking into an alternate drain, to drain out collected water at the sub way into the nearby Nalla. Later, the DDC inspected 6 water bodies in Barwal Village and adjoining areas and passed instructions to the Rural Development Department for the preservation of these assets.
