SRINAGAR, Aug 19: Jammu & Kashmir saw a quantum jump in Corona Virus cases as 708 fresh cases of virus were reported today. With today’s cases the number of COVID-19 positive cases in the union territory reached 30,034. The number of deaths reached 572 as 11 more people died in past 24 hours. Srinagar reported 229 fresh cases of COVID-19 followed by Budgam 88 cases, Ganderbal 62 cases, Anantnag and Bandipora 48 cases each, Kupwara 43 cases, Jammu 41 cases, Baramulla 35 cases, Reasi 34 cases, Pulwama 24 cases, Kulgam 19 cases, Shopian and Samba 10 cases each, Rajouri and Kathua four cases each, Doda three cases, Udhampur and Ramban two cases each and Poonch & Kishtwar one case each. Srinagar reported five fresh Corona Virus deaths followed by Kupwara three deaths and a death each in Baramulla, Budgam and Shopian districts. So far 531 COVID-19 deaths have taken place in Kashmir with the number of deaths in Jammu being 41. Srinagar has the highest number of casualties with 182 deaths. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 708 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 102 from Jammu division and 606 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 30,034. Also 11 COVID-19 deaths have been reported from Kashmir Division. Moreover, 611 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 175 from Jammu Division and 436 from Kashmir Division. Out of 30,034 positive cases, 6965 are active positive, 22,497 have recovered and 572 have died; 41 in Jammu division and 531 in Kashmir division. Out of 8, 22,574 test results available, 7, 92,540 samples have tested negative till date. Additionally, till date 4, 21,057 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 42,323 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 6,965 in isolation and 44,417 under home surveillance. Besides, 3, 26,780 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 7,253 positive cases, 1,412 active positive, 5,659 recovered, 182 deaths; Baramulla has 2,510 positive cases, 629 active positive, 1,792 recovered, 89 deaths; Pulwama has 2,146 positive cases, 383 active positive, 1,723 recovered, 40 deaths; Budgam has 1,922 positive cases, 528 active positive, 1,349 recovered, 45 deaths; Anantnag has 1,905 positive cases, 385 active positive, 1,477 recovered, 43 deaths. “Kulgam has 1,747 positive cases, 216 active positive, 1,500 recovered, 31 deaths; Kupwara has 1,680 positive cases, 495 active positive, 1,146 recovered, 39 deaths; Shopian has 1,589 positive cases, 105 active positive, 1,458 recovered, 26 deaths; Bandipora has 1,583 positive cases, 794 active positive, 767 recovered, 22 deaths and Ganderbal has 1,051 positive cases, 527 active positive, 510 recovered, 14 deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 2,074 positive cases, 686 active positive, 1,359 recovered, 29 deaths; Rajouri has 794 positive cases, 88 active positive, 703 recovered, three deaths; Kathua has 681 positive cases, 107 active positive, 573 recovered, one death; Udhampur has 664 positive cases, 60 active positive, 602 recovered, two deaths; Ramban has 631 positive cases, 29 active positive, 601 recovered, one death. “Samba has 599 positive cases, 174 active positive, 424 recovered, one death; Doda has 350 positive cases, 48 active positive, 300 recovered, two deaths; Reasi has 336 positive cases, 205 active positive, 131 recovered, Poonch has 333 positive cases, 76 active positive, 255 recovered, two deaths and Kishtwar has 186 positive cases, 18 active positive, 168 recovered,” reads the bulletin. Out of 30,034 positive cases 5,647 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
