LG Sinha means business
8/20/2020 12:14:20 AM

Newly appointed Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, has directed the concerned agencies to improve the road connectivity in the Union Territory. The road infrastructure in the rural areas is in shambles and the people have often raised concern over the connectivity not being upto the mark. Politicians, who ruled J&K in the past always made tall promises about improving the road connectivity especially in Doda, Kishtwar, Poonch and other frontier areas of the Jammu region but their claims remained confined to papers only. No sincere effort was put to widen the roads and make these safe. In the past many people have lost their lives due to road accidents in the hilly areas of Jammu region.
The Kashmir centric politicians never paid any attention towards the problems and the miseries of the people of Jammu region and just offered lip service to them.
J&K’s transition into a Union Territory has put the ball in the Centre’s court and it has provided a golden opportunity to New Delhi to complete the works which remained pending in J&K for the past 70-years.
One can understand that things cannot be set right overnight but a beginning can be made. LG Sinha has kickstarted the process by asking the officials to expedite the process of building the road infrastructure. The officials of the concerned agencies should realize that times have changed and they cannot just sit over the proposals and work at a slow pace. Their performance is getting noted and monitored they will have to act if they have to remain in business.
Since the day new Lieutenant Governor has taken over the reins of J&K, he has made it very clear that people have to be provided with all the facilities and the basic necessities. Road infrastructure is must for the development and progress of any region. During the past 70-years, the Kashmir centric politicians just focused on the Valley. Jammu didn’t exist for them. The people of Jammu believe that now justice will be done and region will get its equal share. People are hoping that Centre won’t let them down and discrimination which Jammu has faced during all these years will end.
Present dispensation is aware of the miseries which the Jammu region has faced during all these years. The time has come to set the records straight.
