Manjit Singh demands ownership rights on Custodian land | | | Early Times Report
Vijaypur, Aug 19: Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) senior leader and former minister Manjit Singh has demanded property right on Custodian property allotted to the Chhamb Displaced Persons. In a statement to the press, the former minister has appealed to the Government to give ownership rights to the Chhamb Displaced Persons of 1971 and 1965. “The displaced persons have lost their properties in the Indo-Pak wars and they became homeless. The Government had allotted them Custodian land on which they cannot claim ownership rights,” said Manjit Singh. For decades, he said, they have lived on the land without land rights. In the Union Territory, the Government should give them right on the property they are holding. He said that the Chhamb Displaced persons have suffered adversely due to the border clashes and they were not given their dues despite assuring ownership rights on the property. The JKAP senior leader said that the party is with them and supports their demands. He appealed to Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to accept their demands for effective working of the department. Besides, the former minister said that a bandh on Devak-Basanter River was damaged and till date, the farmers have been facing problems in cultivation of their fields due to the silt. |
